A Spider Inspires a King

 

Robert Bruce, king of Scotland, fought several battles to regain his country’s freedom but was each time defeated. Naturally, he was a very sad mood for his unhappy condition. Once he was lying in the cave. Suddenly he saw a spider trying hard to reach the ceiling of the cave. The spider failed again and again to attain success. But it did not lose heart. Bruce saw the spider’s struggling. Once it fell down and tried again. It failed six times. On its seventh attempt, it was successful to reach the ceiling. This incident shook Bruce’s mind very much. He reflected on his own condition of failure. He became optimistic to achieve success. The dauntless spider inspired Robert Bruce to foil despair. He gathered an army of strong men and attacked his enemies with new force. The enemies were defeated and Robert Bruce regained his kingdom. It also indicates that “Where there is a will, there is away.
