There lived a greedy farmer in a village. He had a wonderful goose. The goose used to lay an egg of gold every day. The farmer was very greedy. He thought that the stomach of the goose was full of eggs. If he could get all the eggs at a time he would be a rich man quickly. To satisfy his greed, he cut the belly of the goose but found no egg there. He became extremely disappointed and lost the valuable goose forever. Far from becoming rich, he became poorer. Through this incident, the farmer understood that over greediness brought misfortune to him.

So, he wanted to kill the goose. When he killed the goose, he found only one egg in its belly. The farmer was astonished to see only one egg. He could not understand what to do. He disclosed the fact to his wife. His wife rebuked him. The farmer began to be poorer day by day. He could not support his family with his little income. He realized his fault. But there was no compensation for the loss.

So, one day he hit upon a plan that he would kill the goose and gets all the eggs of gold from its belly. Then he would sell the eggs and become rich at once. The farmer told his wife about his plan. His wife was wise but not greedy. She said to her husband not to be greedy and be happy with what they have. The farmer did not listen to his wife. He killed the goose with a sharp knife. Then he cut open its belly. But Alas! He found no eggs in it. He became extremely disappointed and lost the valuable goose forever. Instead of becoming rich, he became poorer. Through this incident, the farmer understands that greediness brought misfortune for him.

Every morning the goose laid a golden egg and the farmer used to sell the golden egg to the market. Within a short time, the luck of the farmer became changing. Gradually he became rich. The farmer was very greedy and impatient. So, one day he thought if he cut the belly of the goose he would get all the eggs at a time and by this way, he would be rich overnight. So, to have all the eggs at a time one day he took a sharp knife and cut the belly of the goose. But alas! There was no egg inside it. He was very sorry and started crying. Finally, he realized his fault, and the reason behind losing all was his greediness.
