Once a hungry fox was searching for food in the forest. After a while, he came to a vineyard. He was very tempted at the sight of the grapes. But the graphs were hanging very high beyond his reach. But his temptation could not refrain him from having the juicy ripe grapes. He thought to himself “The grapes seem to be juicy and sweet. I have to get some of the grapes.” His mouth watered at the sight of the ripe and juicy grapes. He thought for a while how to reach the hanging grapes. He was so confident that he would be in a position to reach the grapes easily and have them to his heart’s content. In fact, he was overjoyed at that moment. Then he started jumping up to reach the grapes. But the grapes were hanging high up. Again and again, he jumped to catch the nearest bunch of grapes but missed. He attempted several times to reach the juicy grapes but all his attempts were in vain. He failed to get the ripe and juicy grapes. At last, he was exhausted and thought that it would be futile for him to try any longer. So, he went away and consoled himself saying that the grapes were sour and he did not like to have them.

One day two mice stole a piece of the soft bread from a neighboring house. They tried to divide it equally into two parts.

But they failed to divide equally. Because each of them seriously wanted to take the larger part of the bread. None of them agreed to compromise. They even seriously fought for that issue. Lastly, they decided to put up their problem to the monkey for fair justice who was considered the wisest and clever animal in the forest. They went to the monkey to divide the piece of bread properly. The monkey assured them The cunning monkey divided the bread into a piece in such a way that it is not equally and properly divided. Then he cut a small part of a piece to equalize the portion and ate that instantly which is larger than the other. Again, the dishes of the measure was unequal and the monkey ate another small part of the larger portion. He continued this crafty method, and the bread piece became smaller continuously. The rats understood the monkey's cunning trick They requested the monkey to stop his work and return them the rest of the cake. The monkey didn't stopped his deception and claimed the rest of the pieces were for him as his charge.

His mother was in deep sleep. She was also ill. Suddenlly his ailing mother got up from sleep and asked Bayazid to give her a glass of water. Bayazid went to the pitcher. But Unfortunately there was not a drop of water in it. So Bayazid went to a distant fountain with  the pitcher and brought water for his mother. But by that time his mother was asleep again. So he stood still beside his mothers bed with a glass of water in his hand.Thus the rest of the night passed by. In the morning his mother woke up. She was highly surprised seeing Bayazid standing with a glass of water beside her bed. But soon she could remember every thing. Her heart was filled with a unique love for Bayazid. Her embraced her son and prayed for him from the core of his heart.

Wolf! Help me! Help me!” The villagers near this forest heard his crying and came to help him. When they came near the boy, they found no wolf there and the boy laughed at them. The villagers were fooled by the cunning boy and they went away.

After a few days, he made the same fun again and the villagers came again to help him. But found no wolf there this time too. One day, suddenly a wolf really came and it attacked the flock of sheep. The boy somehow climbed up a tree. Then he started shouting for help. The villagers heard his shouting but they thought that it was his other fun. So, no one came to help him, The wolf killed one of his sheep and took it away. The boy felt very sorry for his silly joke. From then, he promised not to tell a lie and befool people again.


Moral story: Never tell a lie.

On her way to school, a boy named Alom used to tease her very often. But she didn't get frustrated. Rather she told him to stop teasing with a strong voice without any panic. She told him that she had a dream for higher education and requested him to stop this. But he's very naughty and didn't pay attention to her words. She thought much about the problem and finally informed her school principal. He complained about this incident to the police. After the realization of the truth, police arrest alom and his friends. Thus, Nila was able to get out of this problem.

Long ago, there was a sultan in Bengal. His name was Giasuddin Azam. His capital was Sonargaon near Dhaka. He was a very just and kind ruler. The Sultan’s hobby was hunting. Very often he went on hunting. One day he was on hunting deer in a jungle. Aiming at a fawn he shot but missed. The arrow by chance pierced a son of a widow. Hearing the news, the widow was very much shocked and disappointed. Because the victim was her only child. So she went to the King to pray for justice. She complained against the Sultan. The Kazi was moved to pity hearing the shocking news. But he could not decide what to do. Because the complaint was against the Sultan. If he did justice to the widow, the Sultan might be displeased. Again if he did not do it, he would remain guilty to the widow and to almighty Allah. At last he made up his mind to bring the Sultan for justice. The King stood before the Kazi. The Kazi asked him whether the complaint was true. The Sultan answered in the affirmative and he was ordered to compensate the widow for the loss. The Sultan happily accepted the proposal and compensated the widow. Being pleased, the widow went home. The Kazi thanked the Sultan for his justice. The King also thanked the Kazi for his sense of duty.

Once there was clever fax in a jungle. One day, while he was walking through the jungle, suddenly he fell into a trap. He could somehow get out of the trap then, but he had to leave his tail behind. Without the tail, the fox looked very strange. “What should I do now.” he cried. But the fox was very clever. He thought and thought. Then once Mr. Fox had a good idea. So he made a plan. “I’m gonna ask all the foxes of the jungle to come to a meeting,” he said to himself.

When the foxes knew about the meeting, they came quickly. “Mr. Fox is very clever,” all of them said. “What‘s he going to tell us?” When Mr. Fox saw all the foxes there, he felt very happy and pleased. “Now listen, my friends,” he said. “Why have I asked you to come here? It’s because I’ve made a very important discovery that is our tails are not useful. They look ugly. So we should cut off our tails. All the foxes were listening to the clever fox, Suddenly an old fox stood and said, “My Friend, your plan is very interesting but foolish. You have no tail. So you want us to cut off our tails because you have lost your own tail. We shall not cut off our tails.

Once upon a time, there lived a great saint in a forest. One day, while he was in deep meditation a small mouse fell on his lap. It had been dropped by a crow who was carrying it in its beak. “Please save me,” pleaded the mouse.

The saint felt pity for the poor mouse. He gently lifted the mouse and started nurturing it.

One day, the mouse was chased by a cat.

He ran to the saint in fear. With his miraculous powers, the saint turned the mouse into a cat. The mouse turned cat lived happily with the saint for some time.

But, one day, it was chased by a dog. The scared cat ran to the saint again. The saint turned the cat into a dog.

The dog was very faithful and followed the saint everywhere. One night, while the dog was lying outside the hut, a tiger growled at it. The dog ran into the saint trembling in fear. The saint converted the dog into a tiger. The mouse turned tiger started to live in the forest without any fear.

But, the saint continued to treat him like a mouse. Whenever the animals in the forest saw the tiger they said “the mouse has been made a tiger by our saint. So, we need not be afraid of this tiger”.

The mouse turned the tiger realized that he will have to live with the stigma of being a mouse until he got rid of the saint. He went towards the saint to kill him. The great saint read his thoughts before the tiger could attack him. The angry saint turned the tiger back to a mouse as it was before.

Moral story: Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

He had a great attraction to English and he went to a teacher.  The teacher began to teach him, but the man was dull-headed. His teacher tried his best to teach him English but the man could not understand the rules of grammar. However, the teacher released him. The man grasped only three English words. He learned ‘yes. ‘no’ and very well. But the man did not know their meaning. He came to his village and told them that he was well versed in English. He used the three words while speaking with any people.  If anybody asked him any question or discussed a thing with him, he would say either yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘very well’.

One night a theft took place in a house of the village and the police was informed in it. A police officer went to that place for investigation. He asked everybody if he knew anything about the theft. But the villagers told that they did not know who did it and how. At last the police officer asked the man “Do you know anything about the theft? I think you have done it.” The man said, ‘yes’. The police again asked, “Have you any objection if we take you under the custody of the police?” ‘No’. Then the police officer said to him, “we will arrest you now”. The man proudly said, ‘very well’ Thus he was arrested and put to jail.

Moral story:  From the story noted above we learn the moral that the man with a little learning in English brought ruin on himself.

A large number of mice lived in a farm. They had been having a good time at the house. Being annoyed the owner of the house brought a cat to kill them. The cat spread terror among the mice. None dared come outside in fear of being killed by the cat. All the mice of the mouse colony decided to hold a conference to seek a solution.

Taking advantage of the cat’s absence, one day the mice of all ages got together in the conference. Each one put forward a suggestion, but none of the ideas was really practical.

“Let’s make a big trap,” one mouse suggested. This idea was turned down and, another said, “What about poisoning her?” But nobody knew which poison could kill cats. One young widow, whose husband has fallen a prey to the ferocious cat, angrily proposed, “Let’s cut her claws and teeth so that she can do no more harm.” But the conference did not approve of the widow’s idea. At last, a mouse, wiser than others, waving a bell, called for silence. “We’ll tie this bell to the cat’s neck, so we’ll always know where she is! We’ll have time to escape.”

All of the mice clapped at the wise mouse’s words and everyone congratulated him on his good idea. However, the wise mouse rang the bell again for silence. “We must decide who’s going to bell the cat,” he said. There was no sound except a faint murmur: “I can’t because……..”

Nobody was brave enough to come forward to materialise the idea and the conference ended in smoke. All the mice eventually moved to different places.

Once there lived a poor woodcutter, in a village near a jungle. He used to cut wood from the forest and sold in the market. But one day, while cutting wood his axe fell into the pond. The pond was very deep. The woodcutter did not know how to swim or dive. So, he was sitting there sadly.

Then a wonderful thing happened. A beautiful fairy appeared before the woodcutter. She asked him in a sweet voice, “Why are you so sad? Why are you not cutting wood?
The woodcutter replied sorrowfully, “My axe has fallen into the pond. I can’t cut wood now.”

The fairy then showed him an axe made of silver. She asked him if it was his axe. The woodcutter saw the axe and said, “It’s not my axe.”

The fairy showed him another axe made of gold. She asked, “Is this the axe that you lost?” The woodcutter said, “No, it’s not. My axe is made of iron. It was old.” The fairy showed him the lost axe with a wooden handle. The woodcutter then said happily that it was his axe.

The fairy became very pleased with the honesty of the woodcutter and gave him the gold and the silver axes too. Then the woodcutter became rich and began to live happily. So, we must keep in mind that honesty is always rewarded.

The saint felt pity for the poor mouse. So he turned the mouse into a big cat. The mouse became very happy and began to live in the hut of the saint. After a few days, a dog chased the cat. The cat became afraid and ran to the saint. The saint saw everything and then turned the cat into a tiger. The dog saw the tiger and went away. The tiger began to live in the forest without any fear. He thought that he was the king of the forest. On a rainy day, the tiger became very hungry, but he could not catch any animal for his food. So finding no other way, he attacked the saint to eat him. The saint became surprised and thought the tiger had forgotten his past. So it would not be wise to give him chances anymore. He at once turned the tiger into a mouse again.

The king of Iran used to invite the great poet Sheikh Saadi very often to his court. Once on his way to the king’s court the poet took shelter in a noble man’s house for a night. He then took shelter in a nobleman’s house for a night. He was then in a very simple dress. The nobleman could not recognize him and treated him as an ordinary man because he was not wearing the costly and gorgeous dress. He was wearing a very ordinary and cheap cloth. The treatment he received in the rich man’s house offended him. But he did not say anything to him.

On the next day, Sheikh Saadi went to the court of the king and was received with honour. He stayed there for a few days. He composed some beautiful poems and entertained the king and his courtiers. He received rich gifts from the king. He put on a very rich and ornamented dress. Thus, he was returning to his village. On his way, he again visited that rich man’s house. This time, the rich man was surprised to see Sheikh Saadi in a rich ornamented dress. He was delighted to see the change in Sheikh Saadi and treated him with the best of the foods and comfort.

While eating, he was surprised to see the rich delicious food and understood the rich man’s attitude. Sheikh Saadi then instead of eating the food, started putting them into the pockets of his rich cloth. This surprised the rich man. “Why are you putting the food into the pockets of your dress?” said the rich man. “I am putting them into the pockets of my dress because these foods are meant for my dress, not for me”, said Saadi. The rich man realized his earlier folly and became ashamed.

The Greatness of Giashuddin Azam Shah



Giashuddin Azam Shah was the ruler of Bengal. He was a kind and just ruler. He was very much fond of archery. One day when he was practising archery, all on a sudden, his arrow missed its target and pierced into the breast of a young boy who died instantly. The boy was the son of a widow. She went to the Qazi and complained against the Sultan for justice.

The Qazi called for the Sultan and said, “According to the law of the country, you shall be punished. But if you can please the widow by giving her compensation for the loss, you may get rid of the due punishment.” The Sultan gladly did it and the widow was satisfied. Then the Qazi got down from his seat and showed the Sultan due respect.

The kind Sultan then drew out his sword and said, “Listen to me, Mr. Quazi, if you had failed to do justice to the widow, I would have cut off your head with this sword”. The Qazi also drew out his cane and said, “If you had disobeyed my justice, I would have beaten you with this cane.” The Sultan thanked the Qazi for his brave and true judgement and embraced him.

A poor girl, named Rina, worked in a rich man’s house. The house master was kind to her but the mistress was very cruel. She used to scold her now and then. One day while serving tea, Rina broke a cup of tea.

As the mistress flew into a rage, she poured the hot tea of her cup on the head of Rina and smashed on her forehead. The whole face of Rina burnt severely and her forehead started bleeding. Rina fell into the swoon and she remembered nothing. This all happened in the morning. The feeble master protested but the mistress did not pay any heed to him.

When Rina came into consciousness, she found herself tied with the legs of a bed. Her hands were aching seriously. It was very warm inside the room and the door was locked from outside. He couldn’t understand what time it was. She only understood that she was very hungry and there was nobody in the house. She again fell into a swoon in a while for severe pain and hunger.

She was awakened in the evening by the violent opening of the door. Her cruel mistress thrashed on the door and came near Rina. She started beating her with a stick. Rina was exhausted after day long pain and hunger. She even did not have the energy to cry. Her silence made the mistress almost mad. She ran out of the room and came with a hot cooking pan. She started to use the hot pot on her body and, the pan left severe burns all over her body. Rina was still silent. After a few moments, the mistress became tired after beating. She left leaving Rina unconscious.

Next day, when the master opened the door, he found Rina quite senseless. She was taken to a hospital. The doctor declared her dead. Poor Rina! Constant physical and mental torture stopped her living in the world, which was so cruel to her!
